Tour Program:

Pick up: Göbeklitepe Day Tour takes place every day. Early in the morning, before sunrise, you will be picked up from your hotel in Istanbul. A comfortable car will drive you towards the airport.

Flight to Şanlıurfa: This excursion includes a flight towards Urfa. The flight will be approximately 2 hours and once you arrive there, you will be welcomed by a professional tour guide. The assigned tour guide will let you know interesting facts about the places of interest.

Göbeklitepe: With a comfortable and fully air conditioned bus you will arrive at the first and most important site of this excursion. Göbeklitepe is one of the oldest monuments in the world. In fact, it is approximately 7,500 years older than the Egyptian Pyramids. This archaeological site is still under excavation and its impressive size features various important structures. In total, there are 20 temples dating back at the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period. Among them, there are six temples that are still covered. There, you will enjoy an informative guided tour and receive a lot of interesting information.

Archaeology and Mosaic Museum: Then, your excursion continues to the Archaeology and Mosaic Museum of Urfa. This particular museum is listed among the biggest in Turkey and hosts an impressively large collection of items from the archaeological site in Göbeklitepe. Visitors are able to walk around the various rooms and observe a total of 5000 exhibits. One of the most notable exhibits is a statue called “Urfa Man”, the first statue in the world.

Pool of Abraham: Göbeklitepe Day Tour includes also a visit in one of the area’s most important religious monuments, the Pool of Abraham. Located in the city of Urfa, the monument includes imposing archways, domes and a mosque. In the middle, there is a pool 150m long and 30m wide. Inside the pool, there are carp fishes and visitors are encouraged to feed them. According to the legend, this pool is the place where Nemrut’s daughter Zeliha jumped to the fire when Prophet Abraham was thrown.

Lunch: Your full day exploration includes also a lunch break that will take place at a local restaurant. During this break, you can enjoy a tasty meal and relax between the sightseeing.

Flight to Istanbul: During the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Şanlıurfa airport. After passing the necessary checks, you will enjoy a 2-hour flight towards Istanbul.

Return
Upon arrival, a comfortable bus will transfer you back to your hotel in the city centre. This excursion finishes during the night when you return back to your hotel.
